CMA December 2026 Model Question Papers: Foundation, Intermediate & Final PDF

Model question papers are one of the most practical tools for CMA December 2026 preparation. They show you how the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) frames questions, how marks are spread across a paper, and how much you can realistically write in three hours. This guide explains where the official papers are, what is actually available right now, and how to use them well at the Foundation, Intermediate and Final levels.

Short answer: ICMAI publishes Model Question Papers (MQPs) for Foundation, Intermediate and Final on its official Model Question Papers page, organised by examination term. The page has a December 2026 term section for all three levels. When we checked on 15 October 2026, the Foundation tab for December 2026 listed only one file: the question paper for Paper 3, Set 1. We could not confirm the contents of the Intermediate and Final December 2026 tabs, so please check them live before you plan your practice. Earlier terms, including June 2026, are far more complete.

That honest picture matters, because many pages online imply that a full December 2026 set is already available. This article keeps facts and assumptions separate, so you do not waste time hunting for papers that have not been uploaded.

CMA December 2026 Model Question Papers PDF

A Model Question Paper is a sample paper prepared by the Directorate of Studies of ICMAI. It follows the syllabus and the paper pattern of the relevant term and is meant to show the style of questions. It is not a previous-year paper, and it does not predict what will appear in the actual examination.

ICMAI groups its model papers by term and by level. Within a term, Foundation papers are often released as Set 1 and Set 2, with a question file and a separate answer file for each paper. The table below shows what we verified on the official page.

ICMAI also publishes the December 2026 examination timetables for Foundation and for Intermediate and Final on its Updates and Announcements page. Use the official timetable, not a third-party blog, to plan your revision calendar.

If you are comparing syllabus rules, keep ICMAI's CMA Syllabus 2022 page open alongside the papers. It also links the Practice Test Papers, MCQ bank and workbooks, which make good companions to model papers.

CMA Foundation Model Question Papers

The CMA Foundation course under Syllabus 2022 has four papers:

  • Paper 1: Fundamentals of Business Laws and Business Communication
  • Paper 2: Fundamentals of Financial and Cost Accounting
  • Paper 3: Fundamentals of Business Mathematics and Statistics
  • Paper 4: Fundamentals of Business Economics and Management

For the December 2026 term, the verified official file is the Paper 3 question paper (Set 1). For Papers 1, 2 and 4, check the same page again in the coming weeks, because ICMAI uploads files in stages. Meanwhile, the June 2026 Foundation model papers give you two full sets across all four papers, with answers, under the same Syllabus 2022. That makes them the best verified full-length practice material available today.

A simple way to use them: attempt Paper 3 first, because it is the one December 2026 paper already listed, then move to the June 2026 sets for the other three subjects. Students who are still building basics can first work through SAC's CMA study material guide and return to full papers once each subject has been revised once.

Check applicability before you practise. Every file on the ICMAI page carries its syllabus and term in the heading. Confirm that it says Syllabus 2022 and the term you expect. If you are unsure which syllabus applies to you, check your registration details with ICMAI before spending hours on a paper.

Evaluate your answers honestly. After attempting a paper, compare your answers with the official answer file when one exists. Mark yourself strictly. For objective questions, note whether a wrong answer came from a concept gap, a calculation slip or a misread option. For Paper 3, track numerical errors separately from formula errors, since the fix is different in each case. For Papers 1 and 4, check whether you covered the key points rather than whether your wording matched.

Students looking for structured guidance can explore the CMA Foundation coaching programme at SAC.

CMA Intermediate Model Question Papers

Under Syllabus 2022, the CMA Intermediate course covers eight papers, numbered 5 to 12:

  • Paper 5: Business Laws and Ethics
  • Paper 6: Financial Accounting
  • Paper 7: Direct and Indirect Taxation
  • Paper 8: Cost Accounting
  • Paper 9: Operations Management and Strategic Management
  • Paper 10: Corporate Accounting and Auditing
  • Paper 11: Financial Management and Business Data Analytics
  • Paper 12: Management Accounting

We have not confirmed which of these papers are uploaded under the December 2026 Intermediate tab. Open the ICMAI Model Question Papers page, choose December 2026 and then Intermediate, and see what is listed on the day you read this. If a paper is missing, use an earlier term of the same syllabus, and treat it as practice for style and pattern rather than as a December 2026 paper.

ICMAI also hosts Practice Test Papers for Intermediate under Syllabus 2022, covering Papers 5 to 12. These are separate from model papers, but they are official and useful when model papers for a subject are thin.

Balancing concepts, numbers and time. Intermediate subjects are not all alike. Cost Accounting, Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting and Management Accounting are number-heavy, so timed practice matters most there. Business Laws and Ethics and Operations Management and Strategic Management reward clear structure and relevant examples. A reasonable approach is to attempt one numerical subject and one descriptive subject in the same week, so neither skill gets rusty.

When you review a numerical paper, rework every question you got wrong or skipped. For descriptive papers, rewrite two or three answers in a tighter form. This is slower than simply moving on, but it is where most of the improvement comes from. If you need support with time planning, the guide on CMA study time management is a good starting point. SAC's CMA Intermediate coaching page explains the batch options for students who want structured guidance.

CMA Final Model Question Papers

The CMA Final course under Syllabus 2022 covers papers 13 to 20, with Paper 20 offered as one of three options:

  • Paper 13: Corporate and Economic Laws
  • Paper 14: Strategic Financial Management
  • Paper 15: Direct Tax Laws and International Taxation
  • Paper 16: Strategic Cost Management
  • Paper 17: Cost and Management Audit
  • Paper 18: Corporate Financial Reporting
  • Paper 19: Indirect Tax Laws & Practice
  • Paper 20: Strategic Performance Management and Business Valuation (20A), Risk Management in Banking and Insurance (20B), or Entrepreneurship and Startup (20C)

As with Intermediate, we could not confirm what the December 2026 Final tab contains at the time of writing. Check the official page directly. Where a paper is not yet uploaded, an earlier term under the same syllabus is a sensible substitute, provided you read the heading and confirm the syllabus.

Practise descriptive and numerical questions differently. Final papers test application and judgement, not recall. For taxation and law papers, check whether your answer cites the right provision and applies it to the facts given. For Strategic Financial Management and Strategic Cost Management, work the numerical questions from start to finish without peeking, then compare your method as well as your final figure. For audit and reporting papers, practise writing structured answers within the time limit.

Because Final papers carry heavy volume, it helps to attempt a full paper only after you have completed at least one revision of the syllabus for that subject. Early in your preparation, practise chapter-wise or section-wise instead. Students aiming for Final can see how SAC supports them on the CMA Final coaching page.

How to Download CMA Model Question Papers from ICMAI

ICMAI's navigation can change, so use these steps as a guide and trust what you see on the screen.

  1. Open the official Model Question Papers page. On the site it sits under Students, CMA Course, E-Learning and then E-Learning Knowledge Resources.
  2. Look at the list of terms. At the time of checking it ran from December 2026 back to December 2023, each with Foundation, Intermediate and Final.
  3. Choose the term you want, then select your level. The table below the heading will show the papers available for that level.
  4. Read the heading of the table. It should name the course level, the syllabus (for example, Syllabus 2022) and the term.
  5. Open the paper you want. Question files are marked Q and answer files, where released, are marked A.
  6. Before you start, check the paper title, the paper number and the marks on the first page, and confirm that they match what you are preparing.

If a paper or answer file is not listed, it has not been uploaded on that page yet. Do not rely on a link from a social media post or an unknown website. Return to ICMAI's page, or look at the Updates and Announcements page for fresh notices. ICMAI's Examination overview is also worth bookmarking.

CMA Model Question Papers vs Previous Year Question Papers

Students often use these terms interchangeably, but they are different resources, and mixing them up can distort your preparation.

Resource

What it is

Best used for

Things to watch

Model Question Papers

Sample papers prepared by ICMAI's Directorate of Studies for a given term.

Understanding style and structure, and timed practice.

They are not actual exam papers, and availability varies by term.

Previous year question papers

Papers actually set in an earlier examination.

Seeing the real difficulty and pattern from past sessions.

Check that the syllabus matches yours.

Practice test papers

Official practice papers published by ICMAI, listed under the syllabus page.

Extra subject-wise practice.

Separate from model papers, so label them correctly in your notes.

Mock tests

Practice tests set by an institute or platform, often with feedback.

Exam-day simulation and benchmarking.

Quality varies, so check who prepared them.

Suggested answers

Indicative answers that accompany a paper.

Checking your approach and presentation.

They are indicative, not the only acceptable answer.

ICMAI also keeps a separate Question Papers list for papers from actual examinations, organised by syllabus and term. If you are a Foundation student looking at past papers, start there and keep your SAC notes labelled so you always know which type of paper you attempted.

How to Practise Model Papers for the December 2026 CMA Exam

A model paper is only as useful as the way you use it. A steady routine beats a burst of last-minute attempts.

1. Finish a first pass of the syllabus. Attempting full papers too early mostly measures what you have not studied yet. Do chapter-wise practice first, then move to full papers.

2. Attempt under exam conditions. Set a timer for the full duration, keep your notes away and write the paper on sheets similar to the real answer booklet. If you run out of time, stop where the clock stops and then note how many questions you left. That gap is useful information.

3. Check answers after you attempt, not before. Use the official answer file where one exists. If there is none, compare with your textbook or the ICMAI study material, and raise doubts with your faculty.

4. Keep an error log. For each mistake, write the question, the reason (concept, calculation, misreading, time) and the correction. Review the log weekly. Patterns appear quickly, and they tell you what to revise.

5. Revise, then re-attempt. After two or three weeks, re-attempt only the questions you got wrong. Repeating whole papers without a review of mistakes feels productive but changes little.

Level-specific advice

  • Foundation: Aim for one full paper per week in the later part of your preparation, rotating the four subjects. Give extra time to Paper 3, where accuracy and speed with numerical problems come only from repetition.
  • Intermediate: Alternate numerical and descriptive subjects. After each paper, spend as long reviewing as you did attempting.
  • Final: Practise section-wise first, then full papers once you have revised a subject. Pay attention to presentation, since structured answers are easier for an examiner to follow.

For more on how to organise your study, see CMA study techniques and SAC's guide on how to crack CMA in the first attempt. No paper, however well attempted, can guarantee a result. Treat model papers as a way to find weak areas, not as a prediction of the actual exam.

Common Mistakes Students Should Avoid

Practising papers from the wrong syllabus. Always read the heading. A paper from the old syllabus can carry different chapters and a different pattern.

Ignoring the official examination pattern. Know the marks, the number of questions and the choice available in each paper before you practise. Otherwise you may spend time on the wrong parts of a paper.

Looking at answers before attempting. If you read the solution first, you only practise recognition. Attempt first, even if you get stuck.

Practising without a time limit. Many students understand the answer but cannot finish on time. Timed practice is the only way to find that out before the exam.

Repeating questions without reviewing mistakes. A second attempt at the same paper without analysing errors mostly tests memory. Fix the cause of each error, then re-attempt.

Relying on unofficial links. Download model papers from ICMAI's own page. If a paper appears elsewhere but not on the official page, treat it with caution.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where can I download CMA December 2026 Model Question Papers?

Use ICMAI's official Model Question Papers page. Choose the December 2026 term and then your level. Only files that appear there are official. When we checked on 15 October 2026, the Foundation tab listed one paper.

2. Does ICMAI release model question papers for all three CMA levels?

Yes. The official page has separate Foundation, Intermediate and Final sections for each term. How many papers are uploaded for a given term can differ, so look at the list for your level.

3. Are December 2026-specific model papers available?

Partly, based on what we could verify. The December 2026 Foundation tab showed the Paper 3 question paper (Set 1). We could not confirm the Intermediate and Final tabs. Check the page again, as ICMAI may add files over time.

4. How can I download CMA Foundation Model Question Papers?

Open the official page, choose a term, select Foundation, and open the paper you need. For a fuller set today, the June 2026 Foundation term lists Sets 1 and 2 for all four papers with question and answer files.

5. Where can I find CMA Intermediate Model Question Papers?

On the same ICMAI page, under the Intermediate tab of each term. ICMAI's Practice Test Papers for Intermediate are a separate, official source for Papers 5 to 12.

6. Where can I find CMA Final Model Question Papers?

Under the Final tab on the same page. Pick the term and check which of Papers 13 to 20 are uploaded. Confirm the heading before you start.

7. Are model question papers the same as previous-year papers?

No. Model papers are sample papers prepared by ICMAI, while previous-year papers were set in earlier examinations. ICMAI lists the latter separately on its Question Papers page.

8. Are suggested answers available with every model paper?

Not always. Some terms list an answer file next to each question file, but at the time of checking, the December 2026 Foundation Paper 3 entry showed only the question paper. Check each entry. Suggested answers are indicative and not the only way to answer.

9. How do I check whether a model paper follows the applicable CMA syllabus?

Read the heading above the table, which names the syllabus and term, for example Syllabus 2022. Then compare the paper's chapters with ICMAI's CMA Syllabus 2022 page.

10. How many model papers should I practise before the examination?

ICMAI does not set a number, and it depends on your subject and how much time you have. A useful rule is to attempt as many as you can review properly. One carefully analysed paper teaches more than three rushed ones.

11. Should I solve model papers under timed conditions?

Yes, once you have finished a first revision of the subject. Timed practice shows whether your speed, selection of questions and presentation work within the exam duration. Before that, untimed chapter-wise practice is more useful.

12. Where can I find additional CMA practice resources?

ICMAI lists Practice Test Papers, MCQ banks and workbooks on its syllabus page and runs an Online MCQ Portal. SAC also has a Question Bank and a page on CMA coaching with test series.

Conclusion

Official model papers are most useful when you know exactly what you are practising. For the December 2026 term, the verified picture is limited: one Foundation paper is listed, and the Intermediate and Final tabs need a live check. Use the June 2026 and earlier terms to build full-paper stamina, always confirm the syllabus in the heading, and use a timer and an error log every time.
